At Hocking Hills Orchard we specialize in heirloom and unusual varieties of fruit where we are currently growing 1,600 varieties. Our orchard is run as a U-Pic where we sell fruit when in season. Our catchphrase is “Come Taste History!” The photos attached are the fruit of some of the apple trees I have for sale.
________
Newtown Pippin – favorite of George Washington
Esopus Spitzenberg – favorite of Thomas Jefferson
Golden Russet – famous for cider
Yellow Transparent – used for apple sauce
Northern Spy – great for pies
The trees are $20 to $30 per tree and are grafted on semi-dwarf rootstock so they will grow 12 to 14 feet tall. My list of total trees for sale is also attached, varieties that are highlighted in yellow are more 4 or 5 years old and are $30, the others are 2 or 3 years old and are $20. All are grown in biodegradable containers and so are planted directly in the ground. Semi-dwarf trees will average 8 bushels per tree when fully mature and a bushel of apples is approximately 42 pounds. All of the varieties I have for sale have perfect pollen so no need to worry about lack of pollination or needing multiple trees.
